Two customers who want opposite things from the same page

A bakehouse that supplies cafés and grocers and also sells over a counter is running two businesses through one website. The retail customer wants opening hours and a shelf price; the wholesale buyer wants case sizes, order deadlines, lead times and an account. Put both on one page and each has to read past the other — and the wholesale enquiry, which is worth twenty times the walk-in, is usually the one that gives up.

What we do differently

The split made at the top
Retail and wholesale separate at the first screen and never blend again. Two audiences, two paths, two sets of language — because a case price on a retail page is noise and a shelf price on a wholesale page is worse.
Order deadlines published
What has to be ordered by when, for delivery on which days. A wholesale buyer is planning a week ahead and needs the cut-off before anything else, including the price.
A real account application
Business number, delivery address, trade references — the record that actually opens an account, captured properly rather than arriving as a name and a note in an inbox.
A catalogue without a cart
Wholesale ranges are quoted, not checked out. The catalogue shows case sizes and specifications and routes to an account, which is how the trade actually buys.

The marketing plays

Written for wholesale bakehouses — not recycled from another industry with the nouns swapped. This is the human half of the shop.

Direct outreach to cafés and grocers

Wholesale accounts are won one buyer at a time, and the website's job is to make the first meeting shorter. A page with case sizes and lead times does the qualifying before the call.

Trade search

Buyers search "wholesale sourdough supplier" and similar narrow terms with real intent. Pages written for those exact asks are worth more than any amount of brand content.

Local food and hospitality networks

Chefs and café owners recommend suppliers to each other constantly. Being easy to describe and easy to find is most of what turns that into an account.

Retail counter as the shop window

The counter is where a future wholesale buyer tastes the product. Retail marketing has a second job here, and the site should let somebody cross from one side to the other.

What we'd build for bakehouses

Not a drawing of a wholesale bakery site — the finished one, on the Standard Package spec this page describes. It is a sample business, not a client, and it says so on every page of it.

Two audiences who want opposite things, split at the top of the home page and never blended again. Retail gets the Clover store slot and shelf prices; wholesale gets order deadlines, a case-size catalogue and an account application. The wholesale form is deliberately not a CRM — open it next to Northline to see what the CRM line item adds.
